Life as a couple

Black Couple, despite being in this dark color in this image, can represent anybody living together with other. A couple in any colour.
Life as a couple is beautiful. This is when man's most primal need is satisfied. He needs the presence of the other on a daily basis. The presence provides a sense of security and reassurance that I will not be alone in difficult moments.

Safety in a couple

A secure situation is a situation in which a need arises that we cannot satisfy, when a difficulty arises that we cannot overcome. Then the other person is with me. She can help, advise or even take on some of my problems.

Most important are the feelings that are born and develop between people in a couple. They are the basis for security, help and many other things we do for each other.

Black couples in the image

The simplified black silhouettes of two people are so close together that they form a single form.

However, this form is not all closed. There are indentations, holes in it.

At the top, the two heads diverge from each other, forming what appears to be the beginning of a break in the form. This is a reference to the fact that being in a couple also brings conflicts and difficulties in mutual acceptance. The red background illustrates the space in which this couple finds itself. It is a space of intense feelings and experiences.

Within a certain framework

I depicted the whole scene within a certain framework that confines them. Even their heads, which they would like to straighten out, but the frame is cropping them. It is a symbolic representation of our limitations. However, even within this framework, it is possible to experience happy moments for two. I dedicate this painting to all couples.

Mixed technique enriches the message of the hot black couple

I have used a number of techniques in this painting. First, I coloured the fine art paper with red acrylic paint. Then I printed the structure of the decorative frame from a linocut matrix.

The ink print swotted a beautiful trace on the matt surface of the coloured paper. And then this space was inhabited by the couple by reflecting their silhouettes in black ink, which creates an unusual depth of of this special color.
The result is a work that is not only visually impressive, but also tactile in its structure.
